M.O.V.E. 5K RUN… A Runaway Success

From Dr. Renald Ramiro, the organizer of yesterday’s run and the Visayas Chairman of PARM, sent me these details…

Cebu’s weather cooperated well with the launch of the PARM Visayas Advocacy on Exercise and the Plight of the PWDs today, Dec 2, 2007, Sunday. Despite an early morning downpour, the Steps of the Cebu Provincial Capitol, provided a fitting venue for the M.O.V.E. 5K RUN.

A total of around 480 runners registered, from Cebu’s topnotch road runners and athletes; PT-OT students, faculty and graduates of Cebu Doctors’ University, Southwestern University & Velez College; running & gym enthusiasts; Pharmaceutical representatives, and of course…PARM Visayas members!

A 10 minute warm-up to the tune of “I Like To Move It” for injury prevention, was led by the CITIGYM team (Cebu’s only 24-hour gym), with a live coverage from Y 101’s station manager June Rabin (Cebu’s hippest radio station).

Before 7:00 am, the Benefit Run “M.O.V.E. 5K RUN” for the PARM-M.O.V.E. Critical Illness Fund began……..

PARM Visayas was represented well, with Dr. Renald Peter Ramiro, PARM Vis Chairman, overseeing the whole proceedings. Drs. DJ Dejaño & Dr. Manny Yongco were manning the FINISH, and while former PARM president Dr. Jeanne Flordelis and new Central Vis Coordinator Dr. Elda Anota (with their sunblock glory) finishing the 5 kilometer run, for the PWD’s. Dr. Bong Adorable & Dr. Barns Barcenas also joined the fun.

The RUN Technical Crew from the Philippine Sports Comm. Cebu – Joe (yellow cap), Joel (green cap) & Precing (long sleeves), gather together with Race Director Raffy Uytiepo, Zapatera SPED Coordinator Inday Quebido, Cebu Org. of Rehab Agencies (ORA) President Gigi Ruiz, Dr. Renald Ramiro and Y101’s June Rabin for some photo-op.

PARM Visayas members also had a group picture with the Wheelchair participants from Handicapped’s Anchor is Christ, Inc. (HACI) with Gigi Ruiz, Ella Clark (ORA & VSO) and Tynee Ruedas (ORA & Velez College). All participants were given a certificate of participation made by Dr. Bong A. PARM Visayas Chairman Dr. Renald Peter Ramiro awarded the winners of the 3 categories, during the closing of the “M.O.V.E. 5K RUN” :
